The prestigious U.S. publication Conde Nast Traveler released In June its list of Asia’s Top 50 Most Beautiful Places to visit, what the magazine considers to be the most breathtaking sites across the continent. The Greater Mekong Sub-region has not been forgotten with ten sites being named in the list, the first of them being the ancient city of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Vietnam has the highest number of listed destinations with three nominations followed by Cambodia and Thailand, both with two nominations.
The most surprising nominated site is Phnom Penh Central Market, a recognition of the beautiful Art Deco style structure built in 1937 by French architect Louis Chauchon and beautifully restored with the support of the French Development Agency.
