Tourism Motivates Renovation of Famed Myanmar Bridge

Tourism is the motivation to renovate U Bein Bridge, the longest wooden bridge in Myanmar. Work will commence next month.

Located in Amarapura, south of Mandalay, the 1.2-km bridge was built over Taungthaman Lake in the 1850s using traditional methods.

The teakwood bridge is an important lake crossing for local people and an attraction to visitors.
