The Centre for Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI), an agency of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will provide new tourism export coaching program for select Myanmar tour operators.
According to Mrs. Jeanette Scherpenzeel, CBI Program Manager, this is the third time CBI is providing such coaching program to Myanmar. The main objective of the coaching program is to build the capacities of Myanmar incoming tour operators and to help them penetrate European tourism market. The multiple year company export coaching program will include one-on-one and distant guidance coaching from an international tourism expert, trainings and webinars on website and human resources development, improving online performance, participating in different market access activities, developing new products, and training and coaching for sustainable tourism certification through the internationally recognized Travelife initiative.
Mr. Marlon van Hee, CBI tourism expert, said there were over 100 applicant companies who are interested to join the new cohort of 2018-2021. The first CBI program started in 2014 with 15 tour operators and the second batch of another 15 companies were trained by International Trade Center under support from CBI.
“The EMP is really useful in expanding existing market segments or identifying potential ones as it is crafted by one-to-one coaching. However, one needs to work hard to execute the plan and to be committed to see results from it.” said Dr. Lu Mon of Mira Travels which joined ITC cohort.
