Yuwaddy Center is YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association) Myanmar’s social enterprise which is a combination of a café, handicraft shop and youth community centre.

Responsibility

The Yuwaddy Center is a café, handicraft shop and youth community centre that provides training and employment for underprivileged women in the post-conflict areas of Thandaungyi, Karen State. Their creation and products are being showcased in Yuwaddy Center. All their handmade creations and products are available for purchase in the Yuwaddy Center with great local coffee, bags and many eye-catching products made from local material.

Business Case

In 2016, the team of volunteers and staff, through the YWCA, began giving training in women’s empowerment and capacity training as well as business and marketing guidance. All of the sales for products in this shop around 70 per cent of the retail price goes right back to the women producers to help them generating income.
