Travel Experience

Another of the social enterprise breed of restaurants, the Yangon Bakehouse runs to employ and benefit disadvantaged women. They make good quality coffee and sandwiches among other options, with the only downside being that the portions are far too small. They also bake fresh bread daily and offer delivery.

Responsibility

Yangon Bakehouse began in 2012 with the idea that as the country began to open up, an opportunity existed for women in Myanmar to become more empowered through skills training and education. Strong women make a strong community. Our apprentice program, internships & team culture places a premium on women being economically empowered, educated and active in society.

Business Case

The Yangon Bakehouse is a social enterprise dedicated to creating job opportunities, skills development and fair wages to disadvantaged women. Also, Yangon Bakehouse runs training cafes & catering as the natural outputs of our apprentice program, a method to fund our program & to connect with the community. And we are passionate about the food - we believe in locally sourced and fresh ingredients, creative yet enjoyable items & customer service.
