Travel Experience

Loikaw Lodge, located in the town of Loikaw, Kayah State, Myanmar, is a new, small, family-owned “boutique” hotel that has twelve beautifully crafted rooms that provide space, light and great comfort. Teak-panelled floors and wooden furniture, all designed in-house and made locally, create a warm and cosy feeling. Loikaw Lodge’s vision is to provide a unique stay experience rather than just a room and a bed. Tasty dishes made of fresh ingredients from the market as well as a different set of excursion programs complement the stay in the Lodge and create “the experience”.

Responsibility

Loikaw Lodge practices responsible for tourism across all our activities. The project addresses the whole tourism value chain by integrating Kayah State’s local producers and service providers into the tourism value chains. Loikaw Lodge only works with experienced guides that have been trained in community-based tourism and are supportive of the respective initiatives of the local communities in the villages of Pan Phat (Kayan), Htar Nee Lar Leh and Daw Dema Gyi (Kayah) as well as Htekko (Kayaw).

Business Case

Loikaw Lodge by the Lake fully supports the “Inclusive Tourism focussing on Kayah State” project that initiated community tourism-based activities. The Loikaw Lodge management team is currently exploring existing and new ways how to best interact with local communities in villages, far and near, in order to provide a beneficial and enlightening experience for both visitors and hosts.
