Travel Experience

Golden Buddha Beach aims to provide a first class vacation experience while preserving the natural environment. The resort has 28 privately owned houses, a clubhouse with bar, shop and dining area; and a pizza bar on the bay. Activities include yoga, diving trips to the Surin Islands and Richelieu Rock, sea kayaking, nature tours, Thai massage, etc.

Responsibility

Golden Buddha Beach conducts some environmental practices in place at the resort such as composting all our food waste for use in the gardens, sending all recyclable plastics, cans and glass bottles back to processing units on the mainland and keep the proceeds, and banning plastic bags for housekeeping purposes etc. Other sustainable details include washing-up liquid produced from the peel leftovers from orange juice and gift shop items sourced in Thailand and made of natural cotton and hemp.

Business Case

Golden Buddha Beach employes 90% of our staff are islanders, and most are related: the housekeepers’ husbands work in the garden, or in transportation or maintenance; fathers of our staff operate the daily boats; uncle and nephew work side by side in the bar, etc. We have also reached the stage after 20 years or so where we are now employing the second generation of staff members. The resort supports the local school where most of the staff's children are educated. We associate the school to activities at the resort whenever fitting.
