Foreign arrivals to the central city of Da Nang rose 49% to more than 1.766 million during the first nine months of this year, the municipal Department of Tourism announced last week. The popularity of the coastal town goes from strength to strength.
The city welcomed more than 5.15 million visitors during this time, up 22.7% against the same period last year. Total revenue from tourism services is estimated at VND15,141 billion, up 24.4% compared to the corresponding period last year and equal to 81.8% of this year’s plan.
Over 1.171 million visitors arrived at the central city by air while 11,670 tourists travelled by land. Tien Sa port also received 45 international cruise ships with 52,403 passengers on board.
In the same period, the municipal Department of Tourism, in cooperation with Da Nang International Airport and airlines, opened flights to the city. There have been 29 direct air routes to Da Nang so far. The airport is due to see total passengers reaching this year 10 million passengers. A new international terminal is due to open by December to accommodate the surge in passengers.
The T2 Terminal is designed and equipped with modern equipment with 40 check-in counters, 20 immigration exit counters, 22 immigration entry counters and 10 departure gates with a capacity of 6 million visitors per year. This is an important construction which will be operational for the upcoming 29th Summit of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and for any future aviation development.
