Achieving a prosperous and sustainable tourism industry relies on committed leaders, with special kinds of vision and determination. The whole industry benefits from their authenticity of vision, purpose, commitment, and determination; maintained over years of hard work. Recognized not only as builders, creators, and innovators, but also as mentors, teachers, and motivators, these individuals have made it their mission to bring out the best in people.

Sometimes, these people lead from the front, like top executives, senior government, or civil society officers. Sometimes, they work in the field, far away from the spotlight; but their work nevertheless influences the vision and direction of our industry.

To recognize the importance of inspiring, dedicated leadership in thought and action, we are seeking your recommendations for passionate and innovative individuals that have truly made a difference in promoting sustainable and responsible tourism development in the Greater Mekong Subregion.

From innovative entrepreneurs to passionate managers and visionary executives, to selfless officials, or tireless field workers who have modeled new ways of conceiving and doing tourism better: we are inviting your nominations for individuals that are worth being honored and named as an authentic Mekong Tourism Hero.

We will tell their personal stories, to inspire others via a special profile on the website. All Mekong Heroes will join the Mekong Heroes Gallery.

Please see the announcement, as well as articles from TTG Asia and TTR Weekly.

Nominations received until July 1, 2020 will be eligible for the Q3 2020 Mekong Hero. Nominations received afterwards will be eligible for future Mekong Heroes selections. Nominations received until July 1, 2020 will also still be considered for future Mekong Heroes selections.

The first Mekong Hero was announced during the Virtual Destination Mekong Summit on August 25th. Please see the press release for more information
