The annual observance of the Full Moon Day of Tabaung always falls in line with the first full moon of the 3rd Burmese calendar month. It marks the time for Buddhist in Myanmar to head over to their local temple and make merit, followed by a complete month of celebratory events and activities. Particularly, nationwide revered temples such as the Shwedagon Pagoda Temple and the smaller the Shwe Settaw and Alaungdaw Kathapa Pagoda will take centre stage with their own festivals.
Particularly the Shwedagon Pagoda Festival (11 – 20 March) will be an outstanding one if you’re interested in seeing a large crowd of Burmese Buddhist around Yangon’s most revered pagoda.
