The number of foreign travelers to Myanmar have arisen by 25 per cent compared to the previous year, a source of Department of Hotel and Tourism said.
The number of foreign travelers to Myanmar has reached 1.24 million as of the end of April 2017. Around 700,000 million foreign travelers entered Myanmar through border gates, plus 490,000 by vehicle and air routes, amounting to 1.24 million, according to Myo Win Nyunt, director of Hotel and Tourism Department.
Every year, 1.2 billion people travel across the world. Foreign arrivals to every country can provide economic development, employments and reduce poverty.
Hotels and tourism companies are discussing tour and travel programmes capable of attracting foreign travelers. Green season or monsoon season programme will be also planned in order to direct foreign arrivals to Myanmar, Minister Ohn Maung said.
