Introduction
The pages in this section provide updated visa information for the six member countries of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS); including Cambodia, China (Guangxi and Yunnan provinces), Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. The information includes listings of all opened international border checkpoints in each country and border crossing regulations.
The information was compiled from the six countries' ministries of tourism, and despite numerous verifications may include incorrect information. This information is subject to change according to the visa regulations in each country.
Definitions and Codes
Visa on arrival - An official document issued by the immigration checkpoint at the time of arrival for visitors holding passports with a validity of a minimum of 6 month (usually two pictures are required).
YES - Visa on arrival
PAV - Pre-arranged visa (for China, Myanmar and Vietnam)
Visa can be delivered when entering the country ONLY IF it was arranged before departure with a relevant authority, and ususally ONLY if sponsored by a local organisation, see details in each country information table.
NO - Visa has to be obtained at the Embassy prior to arrival
