The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will use the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit, set to take place in Bangkok on April 26-27, to promote the tourism potential of Thailand and other ASEAN destinations.
Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul said the ASEAN tourism industry has grown steadily over the past few years as more international travellers flock to the region.
TAT hopes to strengthen engagement between the government and private tourism operators to create sustainable growth for Thai tourism. The agency was awarded the opportunity to host the WTTC’s Global Summit 2017.
WTTC president and chief executive, David Scowsill, said this year’s summit will gather leaders in the tourism sector and hear their views on many issues, such as the future of travel and tourism, how the world needs to brace for the impact of security threats and climate change, the right and ability of people to travel and the constraints of increasing travel-related connectivity and infrastructure in the ASEAN region.
