ITB Berlin delegates passing through the halls of Messe Berlin and not rushing to their next appointments may be able to help the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) celebrate 50 years. ASEAN will put on cultural shows, March 11-12, 10:00-17:30, in rotation at the Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand pavilions in halls 26A and 26B. Lucky ITB delegates passing by the right pavilion at the right time are welcome to stop to experience a little ASEAN.

ASEAN’s celebratory invitation-only events will take place on the afternoon of March 9:

The first, a “Visit ASEAN@50 Media Roundtable”, will take place 15.45-16.45 at The Philippines pavilion number 101 in Hall 26A. It will be limited to “a few leading journalists” who can look forward to talking to high-level officials from Malaysia and the Philippines about Southeast Asian tourism trends and the Visit ASEAN@50 campaign. Interested media may be able to invite themselves into this conversation by contacting Ms Sheila Leong at sheila[at]eonevents.asia.

A “Visit ASEAN@50 Golden Celebration” cocktail reception will take place only 15 minutes after the media event at the same venue. ASEAN Tourism Ministers and leaders will preside over an hour-long celebration of the “50th anniversary of Southeast Asia (ASEAN) as a dynamic, diverse and yet united tourism destination” and promote the Visit ASEAN@50 tourism campaign. There will be a cultural performance and … a fashion show! Attendance at this reception is also by invitation only. Yet you may be able to invite yourself. ASEAN Tourism suggests contacting Ms Sheila Leong at sheila[at]eonevents.asia.
